Life Before RadioTime on the Squeezebox
September 08, 2006To follow the broadcast of radio on the Squeezebox, it was a real pain. Need proof? How about a head-to-head challenge...
Imagine you are searching for a station that carries the Dallas Cowboys football games. Let's count the difference in steps.
Step 1: go to Google, or your favorite search engine
Step 2: search for Dallas Cowboys radio
Step 3: go through a bunch of pages about the Cowboys interviews on the radio
Step 4: you try another search for your local radio station page that plays sports games locally
Step 5: Press play
Step 6: copy the URL (or sniff the URL using a tool)
Step 7: Set up the URL in Squeezebox Favorites
Step 8: Play on the Squeezebox (YAY!)
Possible Step 9: The station changes teh URL and you have to repeat the process.
Now, with the integrated Guide in Squeezebox configured in your
Step 1: Go to your Squeezebox and browse to Internet Radio > RadioGuide by RadioTime > Browse by Genre > Sports > Football > NFL >Dallas Cowboys
Step 2: Play
That's a 400% reduction in steps!

He's not only the President...
September 06, 2006So, if you have ever sent feedback from our site--whether a technical support problem, a request to add a station or radio show to our program coverage, or just provided a general comment, you'll notice that radiotime has quite a quick response rate. Chances are that you have communicated with our President & CEO Bill Moore.
This past weekend being Labor Day Weekend was no different. Bill was answering email and responding to site feedback all weekend. Many users were surprised at how quick and knowledgeable the feedback is. No form letter here!
Bill has a great commitment to our customers and the quality of RadioTime. Here's to you, Mr Long-Hour-CEO-guy!

RadioTime’s Beta Launch on Slim Devices' SqueezeBox is a big hit
September 01, 2006Recently, we worked with the team at Slim Devices to see what their users thought of adding the RadioTime RadioGuide™ to their service. We've worked with a lot of media adapters to know this is one of the best. The team at Slim Devices was great to work with and the actual project went from proof of concept to beta in record time. Our standard web services made it fast and relatively simple to integrate. Huge thanks to Dean, Patrick and Andy at Slim Devices and our very own Carl and Steve for making this happen.
Anyone interested in an audio system can buy a SqueezeBox for as low as $249, hook it up to speakers, access RadioTime to listen to favorite stations and your radio recordings (with the SlimServer 6.5b1 beta release or later) or even your own personal music collection, and have what you want to hear when and where you want it.
Travis tookSqueezebox home to show his wife and there is skepticism that we will ever get it back! Sorry Slim Devices, probably happens all the time. Squeeze Box owners love it and everyone that visits them is really impressed. All you do is plug and play. It's even wi-fi enabled and the sound quality is great. The unit is small and portable, and the UI is snappy fast. See how it works
Even better, SqueezeBox users gave really great feedback on their community forums regarding the RadioTime plugin. Read for yourself. We really admire Slim Devices' commitment to user feedback. We are all excited here at RadioTime and look forward to being added to the next SqueezeNetwork release!
